A Flexible Lesson Rhythm

Sessions may take place weekly, fortnightly or as occasional focused lessons, depending on your goals, independent practice and teacher availability.

Michael Clancy
Guitarist · Performer · Educator
Michael is a First-Class Honours graduate in Popular Music Performance with around 15 years of teaching experience across schools, private tuition and group settings.
Alongside teaching hundreds of students, he has built an extensive career as a session and touring guitarist, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, working across rock, folk-influenced songwriting, Motown, disco and funk. His relaxed approach combines clear foundations with listening, creativity and self-expression.

Lewie Bonner
Guitarist · Performer · Educator
Lewie began teaching through group programmes at BIMM Brighton and has since taught over 100 students, from complete beginners to advanced players.
Alongside teaching, he performs, writes and records in collaborative projects, including as guitarist and co-writer with rock band Enemy Within. Drawn to jazz, soul, R&B and hip-hop, he brings improvisation, groove and musical conversation into a relaxed, judgement-free approach that helps students develop confidence and their own creative voice.

Are complete beginners and experienced players welcome?
Yes. Individual guitar lessons are suitable for complete beginners, returning players, self-taught musicians and experienced guitarists who want to develop a particular area or find a new musical direction. Lessons begin from your current experience rather than expecting you to follow a fixed level or programme.
Do I need my own guitar?
You do not necessarily need a guitar for your first lesson, as an instrument may be available at the studio. If you decide to continue, you will need access to a guitar for practice between lessons. We can help you choose a suitable acoustic or electric guitar based on your interests, comfort and budget.
Do you teach acoustic and electric guitar?
Yes. The fundamental skills of rhythm, coordination, melody, harmony and musical understanding apply to both acoustic and electric guitar. Your lessons can gradually focus more closely on the instrument, sound and musical styles that interest you.
What music, styles and goals can we work on?
Lessons can explore songs, instrumental pieces, accompaniment, riffs, solos, improvisation, songwriting, harmony, fretboard understanding and playing with others. Our teachers work across styles including pop, rock, folk, soul, funk, jazz, blues, R&B and hip-hop. You do not need to choose a direction before beginning. We can help you discover what feels most meaningful to you.
How are the lessons personalised?
We begin by understanding your musical background, interests, experience and what you would like music to bring into your life. From there, we help you build a learning path that combines your personal taste with professional guidance. The pace, repertoire, practice approach and goals can continue evolving as your confidence and interests develop.
How often can I take lessons, and are lesson times flexible?
Lessons can take place weekly, fortnightly or occasionally, depending on your goals, independent practice and teacher availability. They do not need to happen on the same day or at the same time each week. You can choose from the available teachers and appointment times through our online calendar.
Can I choose my teacher?
Yes. You can view the available teachers and choose your preferred teacher while booking. We can also help you decide which teacher may suit your musical interests, experience and availability. Both guitar teachers work within the wider Thousand Seasons Studio philosophy while bringing their own musical background and personality to the lessons.
Can I begin at any time?
Yes. Individual lessons do not follow the fixed term dates used for group lessons, so you can usually begin throughout the year whenever a suitable appointment is available. You can start with a one-off lesson before deciding whether to continue with a Pack of 10 or Monthly Plan.
What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?
Lessons can be rescheduled through the booking system when enough notice is provided. The exact cancellation, rescheduling, credit-expiry and payment conditions depend on the option you purchase and are displayed before checkout. Please review the full booking terms before confirming your lesson.
